Time to Get Ready for Halloween!

Monday, October 15th, 2012

“It’s that time again,” announced Miss Pat. “It’s time to talk about all things Halloween!”

The “Can Do” Kids all came alive in their seats. They all love Halloween and look forward to it as soon as they get back to school following summer vacation.

Miss Pat continued with what she was saying,” It’s time to think about decorating our homeroom and the bulletin board outside our homeroom. This year we are going to do something different. We are going to find Halloween graphics on the Internet, print them out and display them on the bulletin board along with the proper spelling of their names.”

Miss Pat could see by the looks on the “Can Dos” faces that they weren’t so sure this was a good idea.  Just then Willie raised his hand and when Miss pat called on him he said, ” That sounds hard. How will that work?”

Miss Pat smiled and answered,”It just so happens that I made computer matching games that contain things we see on Halloween and the correct spelling of each thing.”

Miss Pat saw a look of relief come over the face of each “Can Do” Kid.

Just them, the bell rang for the first class of the day. The “Can Dos” gathered up their books and started for the door and their first class.

Miss Pat called after them,”See you in computer class when we will find ideas for our Halloween decorations in the matching games I made!

Math …Math…Math

Friday, September 21st, 2012

The “Can Dos” have been having a hard time with math according to their math teacher.

Once again, Miss Pat was asked to make up computer games for math. The math teacher was hoping that some math games might make learning the 6x table easier.

Their math teacher also hoping that a math game about the 4x table might help too.

When the “Can Dos” came to computer class, Miss Pat announced that she made some math games for them. At first, the “Can Dos” were not so thrilled to play games about math, but when they say how it made remembering the times tables easier, they were happy about it!

Why not try the games out? Go to the Club House, choose games, then choose times tables.

Have fun with the math games!

Name that Sport

Saturday, May 12th, 2012

sportCoach Campbell visited the “Can Do” Kids classroom to encourage each “Can Do” to take up a sport if they didn’t already play a sport.

He began by going around the room and asking each “Can Do” what sport they played or would like to play. Then he talked about a sport they could play through the school athletics program and what sport they might like to try that the recreation center sponsored.

Some of the kids said they played softball. Others said they played soccer. Some didn’t play any sports, but said they would like to learn about different sports in the hopes they would learn about a sport that would interest them.

Coach Campbell put a matching game up on the computers and asked the “Can Dos” to each sit at his or her computer and see each one of them could match the picture to the name of the sport.

The “Can Dos” were so surprised to see that there was a sport or two, or three or four that they didn’t recognize.

Go see if there is a sport or two you don’t recognize. Just go to the “Can Do” Club House, choose games, choose sports and see how you do.

Counting by 5s

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

countingMiss Pat noticed the “Can Dos” were getting tired of all the counting exercises she was giving them to do. She decided to make a few counting games they could do on the computer.

The counting games were not as easy to do as the “Can Dos” thought they would be but they were more fun than doing counting problems on paper.

The counting games are all about putting the numbers in the right order. It took some of the “Can Dos” longer than others to get the counting games right.

Guess who was first to finish the counting games and to get them right? Nope, not Orrie but Annie. She is really good at counting!

Why don’t you try? Go to The “Can Do” Club House and choose games, then choose…counting by 5s.
