{"id":5911,"date":"2012-09-08T06:00:07","date_gmt":"2012-09-08T10:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/?p=5911"},"modified":"2012-09-07T17:41:30","modified_gmt":"2012-09-07T21:41:30","slug":"5911","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/candostreetny.com\/blog-parents\/5911\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthy Foods&#8230;Healthy Moods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\">The web site, Fruit&amp;Veggies More Matters at http:\/\/www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org, recently carried the following message about what foods we eat and how it can impact on our moods, even to the point of depression.<\/span><em><\/em><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/healthy-foods.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-5919\" title=\"healthy-foods\" src=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/healthy-foods-259x300.jpg\" alt=\"foods\" width=\"155\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/candostreetny.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/healthy-foods-259x300.jpg 259w, https:\/\/candostreetny.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/healthy-foods.jpg 879w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 155px) 100vw, 155px\" \/><\/a>A recent study published in the British Journal of Psychiatry reported that individuals eating a diet rich in whole foods were less likely to report feelings of depression than those who ate lots of desserts, fried foods, processed meats, refined grains and high-fat dairy products.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>After five (5) years, the study determined that a processed food dietary eating pattern is a risk factor for depression, whereas a whole food eating pattern is a protective measure for depression.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em><strong>Another article published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that a diet of foods that include high intakes of fruits, vegetables, and soy products was associated with fewer depressive symptoms.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The study contributed these results to a cumulative effort of the antioxidants in fruits and vegetables as well as the omega-3 fatty acids in fish.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve all turned to food after a bad day but instead of reaching for whatever seems soothing, eat food that may actually lift your spirits! A diet that promotes a healthy lifestyle is going to promote a positive outlook on life too! Your clothes are going to fit better, you\u2019ll have more energy, and you won\u2019t feel guilty about what you\u2019re eating.<\/p>\n<p>Leading a healthy lifestyle equipped with a healthy diet (rich in fruits and vegetables) and being <a title=\"The Importance of Physical Activity in Healthy Weight Management.
