{"id":3832,"date":"2012-01-20T06:00:45","date_gmt":"2012-01-20T11:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/?p=3832"},"modified":"2015-04-09T19:12:15","modified_gmt":"2015-04-09T23:12:15","slug":"tips-from-those-in-the-know","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/candostreetny.com\/blog-parents\/tips-from-those-in-the-know\/","title":{"rendered":"Tips from Those in the Know"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><em><strong><span style=\"color: #003366;\">Bedtime Tips for Parents of Young Children<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n<p>Bedtime can be a difficult time for parent and child.\u00a0 The American Academy of Pediatrics offers the following tips for handling the times when your child cries at bedtime:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wait a few minutes before responding; if the crying continues, wait longer each time before you respond to the cries.<\/li>\n<li>Offer reassurance that you&#8217;re there, but don&#8217;t play, linger or turn on a light if you do enter the room.<\/li>\n<li>Each time you enter the room, stay a little farther from the bed; eventually, reassure your child without entering the room.<\/li>\n<li>When your child calls for you, offer a gentle reminder that it&#8217;s time to go to sleep.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em><strong>Tips for Handling Winter Dry Skin<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Winter weather and heat in homes and offices can lead to dry skin, which can be itchy, uncomfortable and even painful if the skin begins to crack.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em><strong>The Cleveland Clinic offers the following tips for caring for dry skin:<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure your shower or bath water is lukewarm; never too hot.<\/li>\n<li>Take baths or showers of no longer than 10 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Apply a moisturizer as soon as you get out of the bath or shower.<\/li>\n<li>Wash with a moisturizing cleanser.<\/li>\n<li>During winter months, moisturize with a heavy cream or ointment.
