All of the children were properly restrained in the correct child safety or booster seat for their height and weight<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Forward-FacingSeatLG.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3595\" title=\"Forward-FacingSeatLG\" src=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Forward-FacingSeatLG-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"weight for car seat\" width=\"180\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/candostreetny.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Forward-FacingSeatLG-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/candostreetny.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Forward-FacingSeatLG-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/candostreetny.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Forward-FacingSeatLG.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" \/><\/a>Dr. Zonfrillo, the lead author of the study stated, &#8220;Given that nearly 32 percent of children in the United States are categorized as overweight or obese, and motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death and injury for all children, we wanted to better understand how these two threats to children&#8217;s health interact.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This research should reassure parents that their only concern when it comes to car seat safety should be to follow the most recent guidelines set by the American Academy of Pediatrics,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Those guidelines, revised earlier this year, outline the use of car safety and booster seats based on a child&#8217;s height, weight and age.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><em><strong>&#8220;A good time to re-evaluate child safety seat needs is during your child&#8217;s routine medical visits.
