For those of us adults fortunate enough to have had loving grandparents that were a part of our growing up years the &#8220;Can Do&#8221; grandparents remind us of how safe and special we felt with them. For the young children becoming members of &#8220;Can Do&#8221; Street grandparents\u00a0 share the lessons they learned over the years that can help children develop the skills to do well in many life situations.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Can Do&#8221; grandparents are active, involved adults. Some work, others volunteer but they all have time to spend with their grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meet the Grandparents!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hattie.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-138\" title=\"hattie\" src=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/hattie.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a>Grandma Hattie and Grandpa Dooley are retired. They volunteer at the &#8220;Can Do&#8217; Street Community Center two <a href=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/dooley.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-135\" title=\"dooley\" src=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/dooley.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a>afternoons a week. Grandma Hattie\u00a0 is the arts and crafts instructor and Grandpa Dooley directs the children&#8217;s orchestra. They have three &#8220;grandchildren: Nellie, Willie and Mickey. Nellie and Willie live with them while their mother is in the Army, serving overseas. Mickey lives with his parents\u00a0 on &#8220;Can Do&#8221; Street.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/maureen.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-144\" title=\"maureen\" src=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/maureen.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/gp_john.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-39\" title=\"gp_john\" src=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/gp_john.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a>Grandma Maureen and Grandpa John work in the food market they own on &#8220;Can Do&#8221; Street. Their\u00a0 grandchildren Orrie, Kathy, Annie, Bobby and Arthur J visit them often. Once a week they all stop by the market, with friends on their way home from school and Grandpa John treats to ice cream.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Grandma Frances is an Emergency Services Technician(EMT) on the &#8220;Can Do&#8221; hospital ambulance. She volunteers at the community center teaching First Aid. Her grandchildren are Maria and Hector.<a href=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/frances.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-137\" title=\"frances\" src=\"https:\/\/candostreet.com\/blog-parents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/frances.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"90\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Grandma Sue is the director of the &#8220;Can Do&#8221; Community Center.
